About the job
The Engineering Manager will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the IFS Cloud Cableway and associated infrastructure. The role will ensure effective management of all engineering activities on site related to the cableway. This will be achieved by ensuring the appropriate standards are applied, providing technical expertise, and maintaining strong and regular communications with all stakeholders particularly TfL and the Cableway Sub-Contractor, Doppelmayr.
The role will be required to establish and maintain an effective best practice Asset Management System including delivery of the Annual Asset Management Plan. The plan will bring together all asset related activities including performance, maintenance, condition monitoring and audit
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Developing and establishing an Asset Management Strategy in line with TfL's long-term plan.
- Implementing an Asset Management Information System (AMIS) and ensuring all M&E, Infrastructure and Cableway suppliers engage and utilise.
- Working towards and gaining ISO55000 accreditation.
- Responsible for maintaining the Asset Register.
- Implement a grading system for all assets and obtain agreement for asset replacement cycles.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives - reducing downtime, increasing efficiencies in collaboration with the key subcontractors etc.
- Managing the Capital Expenditure budget and investment spend to ensure successful maintenance and continual improvement.
- Ensuring group policies comply with HSE legislation and company policy.
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing all capital projects from concept through to completion.
- Project manage the annual 7-day maintenance shutdown.
- Ensure the Cableway Sub-Contractor provides schedule of works and obtain full approval of works and cost from TfL. Responsible for all planning, works coordination and communications.
- Identify and manage all engineering safety risks as well as being responsible and accountable for all cableway related sections of the Risk Control System. These are to be documented with support from the TfL Engineering and Assurance Manager.
- Accountable for all asset Inspection & Maintenance Plan's
- Ensuring all LCC assets and systems are fit for purpose and that LCC Business Critical Processes (BCPs) and statutory/legal obligations are complied with.
- Control the management of the Requirements from the Cableway Installations Directive Compliance matrix and update where necessary.
- Ensure the Technical File and Engineering Safety Case is updated with any additional information and design modifications.
- Responsible for other major assets and PPM maintenance of those, including but not limited to Towers, Ship Impact Protection, and IT networks.
- Assist in the daily management of the Cableway Provider and lead the investigation of any technical issues and reporting of such.
- Provide assurance on the interpretation of technical drawings, design, and modification to any existing or new assets.
- Prepare and present reports to clients and attend all technical meetings.
- Manage and update all technical publications including O&M manuals and as built drawings.
- Be the main point of contact to TfL for all engineering matters and maintain regular communication with the TfL Engineering & Assurance Manager.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- Engineering degree, or equivalent working experience within an Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CIEng) in relevant discipline or expected to be working towards status within 6 months of appointment. Alternatively, equivalent experience in a recognised institution of a relevant discipline.
- Experience of working as an Engineering Manager or Operations and Maintenance Leading Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience of working in a position of responsibility in any cableway, railway, other complex transportation, manufacturing or leisure industry involving safety critical experience is desired.
- Experience of Asset Management Information and CAFM systems.
- A basic Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Broad engineering knowledge and experience of implementing best practice in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical and infrastructure assets and systems.
- Proven ability to lead challenging technical discussions with a range of stakeholders.
- Competent in producing technical reports.
About the location
London Cable Car, North Greenwich. Occasional travel to other UK locations as appropriate.
Working pattern
40 hours per week, five days out of seven on a rota basis, primarily based on site at the cable car
Act in the capacity of incident manager on a rota basis (1 in 4 weeks) - which currently includes 3 other people, results in 1 in 4 weeks on call duty.
