What does a Waking Night Residential Worker do at Hillingdon? As a crucial member of the team, the Waking Night Residential worker will provide primary care for a group of young resident in a Children’s Residential Unit, all of whom have experienced damaging life experiences, or are disabled children. This is an extremely important role and the varied responsibilities include: Taking a lead role in helping to settle the resident group of children at night, and to wake them in the morning and contribute effectively to the morning handover. Assisting with emergency admissions, and working with young people sensitively when being admitted to the home, paying due attention to the significance/impact on the young person in order to minimise trauma. Completing domestic duties commensurate with the role of a waking night residential worker, and contributing to the physical up-keep of the home, and the maintenance of the children’s personal belongings.
