Syntax Integration is an IT Managed Services Provider, primarily serving clients in the financial, property, and investment sectors.
The Role
This senior role is focused on the provision of hands-on technical leadership for the Service Desk.
The Senior IT Engineer will ensure the provision of deep technical escalation capability, mentoring of junior team members, monitoring, knowledge management, documentation, and technical project delivery.
You will also be the network expert for the Service Desk team, offering an escalation point for network-related issues pertaining to both on-premise network infrastructure and cloud networking deployments.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role working with multiple client infrastructures.
- Excellent technical skills and possess the capacity to work on multiple competing requests.
- Relevant certifications i.e. Microsoft Associate and Expert level MS365 / Azure / Security, CCNA.
- Good people management skills, with experience providing hands-on technical team leadership.
Technical Skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (i.e. Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Intune).
- Experience with cloud platforms (i.e. Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS).
- Knowledge of Microsoft security and information protection suites (e.g. Defender and Purview).
- Through understanding of security principles and their application.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems and Hypervisors.
- A strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, BGP, OSPF, etc.). Solid knowledge of network security concepts, including firewall configuration, VPN setup, and intrusion detection systems.
- Hands-on experience with network equipment such as Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
- Experience with Remote Management and Monitoring Systems i.e., Datto RMM, TeamViewer
- Strong understanding of common desktop operating systems, i.e. Windows and MacOS
- Good experience with laptop/desktop hardware troubleshooting
- General knowledge and troubleshooting of smartphones
- Experience using backup products and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Azure, SkyKick, Barracuda and Spanning)

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
